The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce eight new academic programmes, including a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science.
In a memo to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, the NUC confirmed the approval of these programmes. The University Librarian, Professor Kehinde Owolabi, expressed his excitement, stating, “This is a dream come true for the university, as we have pursued this goal for years.” He extended his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, the university’s management, and the NUC for making this achievement possible.
Professor Owolabi further noted that the university will take all necessary steps to ensure the programme becomes one of the leading library schools in Nigeria.
In addition to the Library and Information Science programme, other newly approved courses include:

B.Sc. Cyber Security
B.Sc. Information Systems
B.Sc. Software Engineering
B.Sc. Information and Communications Technology
B.Sc. Information Technology
B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry.
